Zoological Record and Biological Abstract database backfiles purchased

The Life Sciences Division libraries have pooled their funds and purchased the backfiles for Zoological Record and Biological Abstracts. Both indexes are now available to search online from volume one to the present. (B.A. 1926-present; Z.R. 1864-present).

U. OF I. LIBRARIAN LAUNCHES COMPREHENSIVE WEB DATABASE OF FIELD GUIDES
Diane Schmidt, the biology librarian at the U. of I. has built and
launched the most complete database of field guides to date. The
International Field Guides Web Site merges Schmidt’s own book, “A
Guide to Field Guides: Identifying the Natural History of North
America” (Libraries Unlimited, 1999), and its companion Web site,
International Field Guides, plus 2,000 new titles.

First Library Town Hall Meeting Thursday, January 24th, at Grainger Library

This is a reminder that the first town hall meeting for the new Library service model proposals meets tomorrow, January 24, from 3:30-5:00, in the Grainger Library Commons. Paula Kaufman will make a few introductory remarks and then open the meeting to comments. The schedule for all of the meetings is as follows.

Paula Kaufman, University Librarian and Dean, is planning on making some significant changes to the current Departmental Library structure. She formed a Budget Plus Group and together they are considering a number of new service models. Library purchases complete On-line Annual Reviews Package

The Library has recently purchased on-line access to the complete set of Annual Reviews. This includes all of the backfiles so the entire series is now available.

Library catalog down 5 PM Tuesday Evening (1-8-07)

Warning: The Library online catalog will be down from 5 PM this evening (1/8) until approximately 8 AM tomorrow (1/9). This includes the local library catalog and the statewide I-Share catalog. During this time the catalog system will be upgraded with a new version of the software.
