Aves 3D

Aves 3D is a National Science Foundation funded online database of three-dimensional digital surface models of the various bones that make up the skeleton of birds. Aves 3D aims to provide as wide a representation of living and extinct bird species as possible, and they are adding new scans to the database on a weekly basis. The project is a collaboration between the College of the Holy Cross, Harvard Museum of Comparative Zoology, and Peabody Museum of Natural History.

Kingbird archive now available online

Read the full post at ResearchBuzz.

The NYSOA has released its quarterly journal, The Kingbird, as a free searchable archive. The current archive contains 228 issues that span from 1950-2007 — that’s about 8 million words on almost 16,000 pages. You can get direct access to the journals at http://nybirds.org/KBsearch.htm.
